Julius Blüthner established his workshop in Leipzig, Germany in 1853. Numerous royals, composers, conductors, artists, authors and performers have owned Blüthner pianos. They include Johannes Brahms, Gustav Mahler, Claude Debussy, Richard Wagner, Johann Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff. The sound is really very rich.

The book is written about Glenn Gould, one of the most famous pianists of the twentieth century who played a Steinway CD318. The author Katie Hafner was present along with Verne Edquist, an octogenarian nearly blind Canadian piano technician who was Glenn Gould’s personal technician.
20世紀で有名なピアニスト、グレン・グールドはスタインウエイ CD318を弾いていました。このピアノを調整していたグールドのピアノテクニシャン、ヴァーンさんとグールドのことが書かれた本です。ヴァーンさんも一緒に来られました。このおじいちゃんのピアノテクニシャンは、ほとんど目が見えません。
