The Convention 2017 at Shrewsbury, England　イギリスのコンベンション

The annual P.T.A. Convention was held in the beautiful historic city of Shrewsbury. There are many old buildings and Shrewsbury Abby founded in 1083.

今年のイギリスのピアノ調律技術者協会のコンベンションは、中世の建物が数多く残っている歴史的な街 Shrewsbury で開かれました。1083年に建てられた教会 Shrewsbury Abby が現存しています。

It was very nice weather during my visit. There is a beautiful garden with many flowers. How wonderful to be here with Piano Fairy!

滞在期間中はとても良いお天気に恵まれました。きれいなイングリッシュ・ガーデンとたくさんのお花。とっても幸せ！

– The convention –

I attended the seminar during the convention which was a very good class. We had a good opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with each other. Some of them came from Germany and Norway.

コンベンションで開催されるセミナーはどれもとても興味深いクラスで、仲間たちとデイスカッションしたりしながら、有意義な時間を過ごしました。ドイツやノルウェーなどヨーロッパからも来られています。

“Restringing Class”
Mr Barry Caradine, well-known as the piano specialist in UK, gave us essential guide to stringing in the workshop and our on the road stringing technique.

ピアノスペシャリストでイギリスでも有名な修理工房を持つ Barry さんの張弦クラスです。

“Blüthner Patent Action Regulation Class”
Speaker Mr Barry Caradine again. He is really piano specialist!! The patent action was made up to around 1920. We were using the action models to run through the complete regulation process.

Blüthner パテントアクション整調のクラス
再び、Barry さんのクラスです。本当にスペシャリストなのです。この特別なアクションモデルは、ドイツのピアノメーカー Blüthner の物で 1920 頃までたくさん作られ、パテントが取られています。

I have never seen the action like this before!! It is like a spider’s legs –xxx

スプリングだらけのアクション、こんなの見たことありませーん！クモの足みたーい xxx アジアではほとんどお目にかかることはないモデルです。とっても面白い。

“Components Clinic Class”
Speaker Ms Roberta Caradine, former President of Pianoforte Tuners’ Association in the UK and master piano technician, gave us fantastic material knowledge, plastics and polymers in the piano, cloth clinic.

イギリスのピアノ調律技術者協会のプレジデントもされていた Roberta さんのクラス。外装塗装の修理、ピアノに使われる材料、フェルト、皮の種類など、歴史も交えてのクラスです。

“Pain in the neck and pain in the back the Challenge of small pianos Class”

Martin さんの「首と腰が痛くなる小さなピアノのメンテナンスクラス」（笑）　

Speaker Mr Martin Backhouse, very experienced piano technician explained “very small” called Mini-piano which is different types of drop-action pianos. Unfortunately I could not attend the class as my schedule was overlapped one another class. But he was kind enough to show me this special small piano! Thank you so much.

写真を見てわかるようにピアノは腰の高さまでしかなく、本当にとても小さいピアノなので、メカニカル部分のアクションはドロップアクションと言って違う形をしています。ミニピアノと呼ばれイギリスにはまだ結構な数が現存しています。私は他のクラスと重なってしまったため、このクラスに参加することができませんでしたが、ご親切に中を見せてくださいました。Martin さん、ありがとうございます。
