Eri さん、こんにちは。僕はイギリスから来たチャーレン・ピアノです。昔はとてもハンサムな英国紳士でしたが、今は歳をとってしまったので、良いお医者さんに見て頂く必要があります。今日は Eri さんに会えて光栄です。

Challen was one of good piano maker in England and Beatles was using it at the AB Road Studio in London. I met the piano in display. According to the serial number of the piano, he is 85 years old. The year of 1930-1940 is golden age of Challen that the factory produced about 23,000 pianos during 10 years. It’s wonderful to see Mr Challen with Piano Fairy !

チャーレンはイギリスのピアノメーカーで、良い品質の楽器を生産していました。ビートルズが好んで使用していたピアノは有名で、ロンドンにあるレコーディングで有名なエービーロード・スタジオに今も飾ってあります。彼の製造番号から分かったことですが、ちょうどこの楽器が製造されていた1930-1940年代はチャーレンの最盛期で10年間に23,000台が製造されていました。ピアノフェアリーと一緒に、香港で Mr チャーレンにお目にかかれるのは、うれしいです。

There is a rust and dust on the surface of strings. The rust needs to be off as much as I can. These things are prevent breaking the strings when I tune the piano as well as making a good vibration of the strings.

弦の表面上に錆やたくさんの埃が付着しています。これも出来る限り取り除いてあげます。こうすることで、調律の最中に弦が切れることをなるべく防ぐのと、弦の振動が良くなります。

Finally, it’s time for tuning. I need chose old tuning lever for him. Unfortunately, his pitch was very low so that I needed carefully to tune the piano and, the maintenance is for the conservation bases.

やっと調律です。彼は古い楽器なので、調律用のハンマーも形が違います。残念ながら、ピッチがものすごく下がっていましたので、とても注意が必要です。チャーレンさんは、お歳を召していますので、これから維持保存ができるようにメンテナンスしていきます。
